One of the many things I miss during this time of social distancing is getting massages and one of the many things I love about practicing yoga asana is how I often feel like I got a massage when I finish a practice - especially one that is focused on stretching, breathing, and releasing tension.
Inspired by my friend, I put these two things together and offered my first-ever Yoga for Self-Massage Workshop two times this month!
In this workshop, I share some of my favorite yoga practices (i.e. meditation and postures) and guide practitioners to explore what feels best in their bodies for relieving tension and inviting relaxation. You can see my suggestions for at-home DIY props and supports in this video!
Affirming Feedback
I am feeling so affirmed by the feedback folx have shared so far and felt inspired to share more about the workshop through the images below.
Some of the things I've heard so far are:
Wow! I didn't realize my calves needed that. I'm going to do that again this week!
It was great to see how inclusive (in many ways) the session was
I didn't realize how much i needed that especially mentally! My mood immediately shifted after the class and I feel like I was able to bring that shift with me into this week!
I really need to massage myself more often!
I am going to share this massage technique with my husband!
I always forget about seated cat/cow. I am going to share that with my 90-year-old mother so we can do them together.
Feel free to share this post with anyone you think would be interested and stay tuned for when this workshop returns in November 2020!
